| Nationwide Peanut Butter Recall |
|
January 27, 2009 – Marin Chef, Makers of CJ’s Stix and CJ’s Bitz, has announced that its products are not affected by the recent peanut butter recall. There is no possibility that the Peanut Butter filled pretzels that we use contains Peanut Butter from the suppliers/lots identified in the recent national recall and outbreak of Salmonellosis. We do not source from either of the companies implicated. Furthermore, the Peanut Butter filling in the filled pretzels is baked with the pretzels. In the baking process the peanut butter filling exceeds the bacteria kill temperature recommended by US FDA, thus removing the risk of illness from bacteria. To assure that we do not experience a similar problem, the following safety steps has always been our practice. · Our product is baked to an internal temperature above 175 F, well above the safe food temperature recommended by the US Food and Drug Administration. · All incoming lots of peanut butter are tested and certified to be free of Salmonella. · All fresh peanut butter is isolated as a precaution against cross contamination · We maintain diligent sanitation programs to assure that our products and processes are safe Thank you for your continued support of our business and products If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
